17 Days And Counting!
Yes, 17 days that is all that's left of this
Lancashire League season! And as I sit here on Wednesday 20th August
2008 i'll bet we haven't had 17 days with sunshine all summer. We certainly
haven't played on a single hard dry
wicket at home or away, everyone has been damp. I remember being sat in the
bar on a sunny day in May joking
that today will be summer this year, little did we know we would be right.
Shane's wife Jacinta has been here for
the last 3 weeks, she goes home on Friday to Ballarat Victoria. Its
winter in Australia at the moment, but i'll bet
she will be glad to be back. It will probably be warmer than here. We wish
her a safe journey. So on the cricket
field its also been a bit of a damp squid. It promised much after a shaky
start, then Lou Vincent left us in the lurch!
Sub pro's don't really help, Then Shane Harwood arrived and he's been
brilliant. But how much better would it have
been to see him steaming in on a DRY hard track rather than him wondering if
the mud will support his front foot.
Then we lost our leader Simon Read to a knee injury (I now think season
ending) and since that day we have won
just 3 from 8 and also been deducted 3 points for slow over rate. But if we
can win as many games as possible between now and the end of the season I
think we can still make the top 3, and I think that will be a good season
for Ramsbottom CC.
Another Narrow Defeat
This was a game that had many twists to it.
After a good start by the Ramsbottom batsmen, Phil Hayes 40,
pro Shane Harwood 45 and David Bell 64.........(more)

Accy Seconds Sent Packing
Another good victory for the seconds, sixth in a
row. This time at the expense of Accrington, another good scalp.
Accrington won the toss after a near 2 hour delay for rain, and invited
Rammy to bat.....(more)
MVP:- Hassan Farooq 3pts, Rizwan Shahid 2pts, Sam Price 1pt.
