At Acre Bottom it was a very different story. Accrington all
out for 93. Jordan Shannon, Matty Lees & DaleGabriel 3 wkts each, Tom Parton 3 victims behind the stumps. It was Tom
Parton who saw Rammy home with
a unbeaten 49 along with Dale Gabriel 19 not out. Martin Cropper 22 the only
Accrington scalp.
Down at Acre Bottom Rammy seconds bowled out
Rawtenstall for 125. Matty Lees 3-16, Jordan Shannon 3-19 &
Charlie Hamilton 2-29 the pick of the bowlers. The Rammy reply was not as
easy as it could have been. The
loss of Chris Wood second ball didn't help. And with 8 overs gone, still
only 8 runs on the board. At 68-5 Matty
Lees came in to bat, and his 38 unbeaten runs secured the win.
Depleted Seconds Also Defeated
Losing 3 players to the
first XI and the struggle to find replacements, scorer Andrew Lees was
drafted
into the side. Put into bat Rammy were soon in trouble at 7-3. Jordan
Shannon 34, Dale Gabriel 11 &
Hassan Farooq 20 steadied the innings at 80-5. But it was soon to be 81-9
following another collapse.
Jackson Garner 15 not out supported by Andrew Lees pushed the score up to
105 when the final wicket
fell. The Rammy bowlers then tried there best to curtail Rishton and in the
first 8 overs their was only
one scoring shot! But with only a small target to chase Rishton plodded on
to a 7 wicket win. Dale Gabriel
the pick of the bowlers 1-10 from 8 overs.......(scorecard)
Seconds Finding Form
With most of the Ramsbottom batsmen getting in,
Alex Bell 21, Sam Price 25, Tom Parton 21 & Jordan Shannon
26 but none pushing on to make that big score, the Ramsbottom total of 151
all out looked a lot less than it could of
been. But it was enough for Rammy's bowlers to defend. Toby McLean 5-45,
Matty Lees 3-31 & Charlie Hamilton
2-37 made sure of the points with 20 overs to spare, Rishton 115 all out........(scorecard)
Learning Curve For Young Second XI
In an unusual week for players being unavailable,
a very young second XI travelled to Bacup. Batting first, and
with good knocks from Sam Price 28, Richard Rothwell 50 & Jordan Shannon 42
Rammy looked good at 128-3.
It was now the turn of the youngsters and Bacup tore into them. Rammy losing
the last 7 wkts for 21 runs finishing
on 149, a reasonable score. But Bacup had the big guns in their side and
knocked off the runs inside 26 overs for the loss of just 3 wkts.
Seconds Also Lose Out to Tod
Two youngsters with sights on a first team spot
took the batting honours in this defeat against Todmorden. Matty Lees & Nick
Murphy both hit 49 in Ramsbottom's total of 156 all out. Some good tight
bowling from Nick Murphy 1-19 from 10 overs and Dale Gabriel 1-25 from
11overs couldn't stop the visitors from a comprehensive 6 wkt win.
Seconds Take Maximum
Points
Ramsbottom seconds finally got the breakthrough
they've been searching for against Nelson. Nelson batting
first where dismissed for 184 with 3 wkts each for Toby McLean, Dale Gabriel
& Jordan Shannon. The early
Ramsbottom reply laid the foundation for this win. Chris Wood with a super
knock of 78, including fourteen
4's and a 6. Tom Parton once again got a good 27 & Rammy crossed the
finishing line with 2 balls to spare
and 2 Wickets.
Sun 31st May - Ramsbottom 133 v Haslingden
182-9 Junior League
Nightmare II
set a target of 182-9 by our
visitors, ably assisted by some "shoddy" Ramsbottom fielding, once again the
batting let the side down. Struggling
at 35-5 it became a tall order, but Tom Parton with a solid 25 & Dale
Gabriel 19 brought some hope. But when the
partnership between Tom Parton & Andy Dalby was broken the winning line was
to far in the distance, Andy Dalby
finishing on 23 not out and Rammy 133 all out.
Sun 24th May - Nelson 157-9 v Ramsbottom 154 Junior Cup 1st
Round
Interest in cup ended
Rammy seconds favourite competition, the
Junior Cup will not be coming to Acre Bottom this season. Batting first
Rammy reached 154 all out with Matty Lees 38 & Sam Price 29 top scoring.
Despite some super bowling from Toby McLean with 4-15 from his 10 overs,
Nelson reached their target with 6 overs to spare.
Sat 23rd May - Accrington 141-9 v Ramsbottom
141
All tied up
The points in this game were shared after a
thrilling tie at Accrington. Ramsbottom batting first posted 141 all out
with Rob Read 41, Chris Wood 32 & Andy Dalby 21 not out. Accrington almost
pulled off a win, requiring 14 from Matty Lees last over, a 6 & 4 helped
them but they fell just 1 short of their target to tie the game.
Sun 17th May - Ramsbottom 68-0 v Bacup DNB
Junior League
Match Abandoned
Play finally got underway at 3pm but after
just 19 overs the rain returned and brought the game to an end with Alex
Bell 17 not out & Richard Rothwell 33 not out.
Sun 10th May - Lowerhouse 130 v Ramsbottom
181-7 Junior League
Youngsters Shine
Ramsbottom batting first posted a solid total of
181-7 with contributions
from, most notably Chris Wood with 51. Rizwan Shahid hit a quick-fire 35,
Richard Rothwell 30 & Jordan
Shannon 25 not out. The ramsbottom bowling honours went to young Charlie
Hamilton with impressive
figures of 14 overs, 5 maidens, 4 for 30. Lowerhouse all out for 130.
Sat 9th May - Ramsbottom 69-4 v Colne 92 Junior League
(Ramsbottom won on run rate)
The second XI had a great weekend collecting a maximum 24 points. On
Saturday Colne were dismissed for
92, Matty Lees 4-19, Charlie Hamilton & Hassan Farooq both with 3-29. The
Ramsbottom reply was swift,
the winning runs coming from the first ball of the 15th over with stand in
skipper Dale Gabriel 52 not out.
Sun 3rd May - East Lancs 119 v Ramsbottom 94
Junior League
Batsmen Fail
At the tea interval the Ramsbottom team must
have been very confident of securing the
maximum 12 pts. With Nick Murphy taking 5-40 and the other bowlers sharing
the rest of
the wickets and East Lancs dismissed for 119, it was now time for the
batsmen to step up.
Unfortunately when Tom Parton's solid resistance was broken and he was the
sixth man out,
the Ramsbottom reply stood at 22-6. Sam Price then looked to have eased the
jitters with a
knock of 49. But it wasn't to be, Ramsbottom all out for a disappointing 94.
Sat 2nd May - Ramsbottom 154 v Burnley 151-8
Junior League
Narrow Win
Ramsbottom's slow start to the season continued today. At
48-5 it wasn't looking good. Matty
Lees joined Dale Gabriel, and knocks of 35 & 22 respectively helped turn the
corner. But another
mini slump mid innings threatened to derail the good work. This time it was
Nick Murphy 37 not out & Andy Dalby 26 who gave the score respectability ,
closing on 154. Burnley looked to be on course for a win but economical
bowling from, especially Nick Murphy & Matty Lees slowed the run chase and
Burnley fell just 4 runs short when the overs ran out
Sun 24th April - Ramsbottom 118 v Church
166-8 Junior League
Seconds Crash to Opening Day Defeat
After restricting Church to 166-8, Hassan Farooq 3-46 &
Andy Dalby 2-7 from 7 overs. The Ramsbottom reply
was a shambles. And only a fantastic partnership of 77 between Matty Lees
(56 not out) & Tom Parton (27)
gave the score respectability. The pair coming together with the Ramsbottom
score standing at 21-7,
unfortunately with the loss of Tom Parton, with the total on 98 any chance a
turnaround was gone. The
seconds all out for 118.
Sat 11th April South Shore 99-5 v
Ramsbottom 98
All At Sea By The Sea
South Shore proved much to strong for a very
much changed Ramsbottom XI. Late withdrawals didn't help Rammy and it was
just a warm up game played in something we could do with during the
season.... SUNSHINE! Batting first Ramsbottom where dismissed for 98. Tom
Parton & Jordan Shannon top scoring with 19 each. The returning Bobby
Horrocks with figures of 4-32 from 10 over's the pick of the Rammy bowlers.
Andy Dalby was also economical with 1-12 from 8 over's, but South Shore won
for the loss of 5 wickets.
